I investigate how much information humans can extract from their visual surroundings -- given a brief period of time. For example, can we perceive the emotional mood of a large crowd in a split-second glance? Or can we accurately evaluate the price of consumer products when rapidly scrolling through a webpage? My research explores the visual mechanisms that allow humans to accurately evaluate our complex visual world -- under incredibly efficient time scales.
